Davido says Afrobeats is not his genre of music
The Nigerian singer, Davido, has joined Burna Boy and Wizkid, who previously said that Afrobeats is not his genre of music as many fans in the world have known it for a long time.
While speaking on a popular American podcast, Davido said, that if an African artist sings pure R&B, sounding like SZA, or Summer Walker, they are put under Afrobeats.

‘If an African rapper raps like Drake, they still put them under Afrobeats. So now it’s like everyone from Africa is an Afrobeats artist. My sound is Afro-fusion.” Davido said.
On the other hand, Davido said.
“There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… and they are people who have tried to do what I am doing but have not succeeded, even with the advantage of coming from a rich family. Mine has been successful because of my values.
“If I wasn’t talented, people wouldn’t listen to my music, and I wouldn’t be the artist with the most hits in Africa. That’s evidence that I’m here because of talent.” – Davido.

“Chris Brown is one of my best friends. If I want a song with him, I’ll just go to his house in America, run into his room, and wake him from the bed. Let’s go and record. Apart from him, I don’t go to any American artists for features. They come to me.” – Davido.
